About

Climate Counts is a non-profit campaign that scores companies annually on the basis of their voluntary action to reverse climate change. The Climate Counts Company Scorecard -- launched in June 2007 with support from organics pioneer Stonyfield Farm and now made interactive as the cornerstone of our new Industry Innovators (i2) program -- helps people vote with their dollars by making climate-conscious purchasing and investing choices that drive the world's most well-known companies to take the issue of climate change seriously. Through our core annual scoring effort, Climate Counts has evaluated nearly 150 companies in sixteen major consumer sectors, earning coverage in many of the world's leading media outlets, among them the New York Times, National Public Radio, The Economist, BBC World Service, the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, The Huffington Post, and the Harvard Business Review.

In an effort to make our scorecard available and useful to many more companies in our dynamic marketplace, Climate Counts is proud to launch our Industry Innovators (i2) program with six forward-thinking charter companies: Amtrak, Ben & Jerry’s, Clif Bar, REI, Shaklee, and Timberland. Each company helped pilot the creation of the i2 process and have distinguished themselves with a top or “striding” score using the Climate Counts Company Scorecard. Our scorecard approach to assessing companies and providing this analysis to the marketplace is embraced by scored companies and consumers alike for its simplicity, its clarity, and its usefulness in providing clear benchmarks for addressing this increasingly complex challenge.

The Industry Innovators program was created to help your business understand its commitment to corporate climate responsibility and make it valuable. The first step? Register and complete a self-audit for your company using Climate Counts' tested 21-criteria scorecard. Like your score? Follow steps to have Climate Counts verify the results for you so your score can become public. Concerned about how little you're doing? Let Climate Counts help you access resources to guide your company's evolution on climate change.
